What ever happened to watches with automatic winding?
Know what? I kind of missed those watches that work with automatic winding. Some of you may wonder what I'm talking about. Yes, they used to have watches, nice, pretty watches, gold watches, with two, three hands , with date or not, watches of all kind that used to work with the slightest motion of your arms or wrist. Now the kind of watches we can only buy it seems are those that are battery powered. The problem with them, or the problem I do have with them, I never can secure the back plate in position after I replaced the battery. One day, I stuck myself with that little tool the merchant told me to get after I replaced the battery. Here I am with several watches without back plate or without battery, because sometimes I could not remove the damned plate!!! What pushed me to write this is my last episode of battery replacement. It is a nice Kenneth Cole that I like very much because of its look. I have had it for 5 years. Then came the time for battery replacement. I had to fight my way to get to the battery at the Walgreen store. Then came the time to put the back cover back. Till now That I'm writing this the back plate is in one place and the watch is in another place. I spent an entire day almost, cursing, fighting, shoving, twisting the watch in my hands, trying to put the cover back... Nothing happened. Maybe it's me...If you outhere know how replace a battery and a cover for a watch you like, let me know. In the meantime I wish I had back those watches with automatic winding, before I become unwillingly a watch collector (see the picture, you see what I mean). Are you listening, watch makers? Give me the choice, at least!!!
