Looting? When the media Judges Things According to the Skin Color

During the Coverage of Katrina events For the black boy in the picture, the caption called it "looting".   For the white woman in the picture, the caption said she "found the food".   The same picture, both in the water swimming with some food for their stomach!!!!   No more comments.  A picture is worth thousand of words.

Insensitivity all the way!!! Those who are saying this nonsense are propably the same who think eveything is doing terrific in this country.  The same who refuse to see when things are black or white, red or yellow, just so their eyes do not have to strain while trying to look at the color of things; the same who do not see misery as long they are not in misery themselves.   I Know some day some of them will become paralysed in wheelchairs, frail in a bed, with a crooked ...

I really don't know what to think any more!!!!! Between the statement of a religious leader advocating the killing of another human being (Pat Robertson wanting CIA to kill President Chavez of Venezuela) and the Belgian nun doing that wild dance in Germany, I really don't know what to think anymore........  I've never read in the BIble or elsewhere a 'sermon on assassination'.    Then we are still calling the man an "evangelist".  Maybe there is no difference between him and the fundamentalist muslims advocating killing Americans.   As for the nun having that wild dance with her legs all wrapped around the body of a man, I wonder what else she might be teaching kids who come in contact with her, besides wild dancing

What ever happened to watches with automatic winding?

Know what? I kind of missed those watches that work with automatic winding.  Some of you may wonder what I'm talking about. Yes, they used to have watches, nice, pretty watches, gold watches, with two, three hands , with date or not, watches of all kind that used to work with the slightest motion of your arms or wrist.   Now the kind of watches we can only buy it seems are those that are battery powered. The problem with them, or the problem I do have with them, I never can secure the back plate in position after I replaced the battery.  One day, I stuck myself with that little tool the merchant told me to get after I replaced the battery.  Here I am with several watches without back plate or without battery, because sometimes I could not remove the damned plate!!! What pushed me to write this is my last episode of battery replacement.  It is a nice Kenneth Cole that I like very much because of its look.  I have had it for 5 years.  The...

Racism with a Mexican Face

Image
El " Presidente mexicano" Fox may have presented his regrets to Jackson or Sharpton for his remarks regarding Black Americans but he  was, in my opinion,  expressing subconsciously his racism or his prejudices about Black Americans when he said what he said. Talking on U.S. immigration policies toward Mexicans, Fox stated last week that Mexicans coming to this country would take jobs that "not even" Blacks want... It was like saying ...food  not even ....dogs would want to eat...  That's the racial overtone!!!!  Because in his mind, blacks in the U.S. represent a subclass of citizens only good for certain jobs. I did not know that  in the US some jobs were reserved for whites, some other jobs for blacks, some other for Mexicans, etc... Vincente Fox may know something that we don't know !!! This is what happens when we in America "nurture" racism at home.  They are always fools also abroad ready to follow our bad examples...

Waiting in line in front of a restaurant on Mother's Day? Forget it!

Today, May 8, Mother's Day, coming from church, I saw a line of people in line in front of a restaurant on Mother's Day waiting, so they can honor their mothers with a  meal!  Silly, silly, silly!.  Which Mother in her right mind, after spending nine months of misery carrying a baby, would want to spend two, three hours in front of the restaurant before she can eat! Not my mother and my wife! Some three years ago, my family decided to forget about standing in line in order to find a place to eat on Mother's Day.  If you guys out there do not understand where I am coming from, you really crazy...for food.  No wonder obesity is going up and up in America.  The last time we tried that, we waited for almost 3 hours before we could get to seat for our meals; then the waiter came, asked for our selections; he took him almost another two hours before he could bring our food. And do you know what happen next? My mother did not like the food she picked!  ...

This Week Was Really a Bore

Every improvement in communication makes the bore more terrible, said a guy named Frank Moore Colby. To me, with the improved media technology that can bring us the news every second, this week has been terrible in the press. That story of the so-called Runaway bride kept popping on whereevr I was: TV, computer, newspapers, etc.  It was really a bore!!!! It looked like the media was looking for something to stay on so it could improve its whatever: rating, circulation, viewing.  Then comes the scandal of the "American Idol".  Another story that keeps making us frown and frown , and make us wonder... And I know there are some good stories out there, like the one about the two teens who spent six days at sea before they rescued them.  Real lesson of survival, and no reality TV this time.  But the media was too busy following the  Runaway Bride (Jennifer Wilbanks whatever her name is) who can only teaches us deception, deception, and deception ...

What's in the heck the World is coming to?

Between the news of that mother who stabbed her child about 100 times and the  Runaway Bride faking her own kidnapping, all I can say is "What's the World is coming to?" And That bride does not look at all like Julia Roberts.  No more comments!!!   And I hope that all people with some sense will understand. J-F, the Independent Thinker

About LOVE and Napoléon Bonaparte

Image
LOve Letter  of Napoléon Bonaparte to Joséphine de Beauharnais, written in 1795 I wake filled with thoughts of you. Your portrait and the intoxicating evening which we spent yesterday have left my senses in turmoil. Sweet incomparable Josephine, what a strange effect you have on my heart! Are you angry? Do I see you looking sad? Are you worried? ... My soul aches with sorrow, and there can be no rest for your lover; but is there still more in store for me when, yielding to the profound feelings which overwhelm me, I draw from your lips, from your heart a love which consumes me with fire? Ah! it was last night that I fully realized how false an image of you your portrait gives! You are leaving at noon; I shall see you in three hours. Until then, mio dolce amor, a thousand kisses; but give me none in return, for they set my blood on fire. How People Can Be So Nasty?

This past week-end I took a tour( not planned) of the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, AR... Very much high tech, with push buttons and video screens almost everywhere, bringing up Clinton in his best during his presidency.  Right at the entrance though, a silly cardboard and a blue dress ( maybe a replica of the famous dress of Monica) with  the sentence: Hillary, dump him, and some name calling with the word "evil"... Here we go, an individual or a group, nasty and mean as there are trying , to kick again another guy while he is already down. I wonder if they know anything about forgiveness, repentance, contrition, and so forth.  I bet those people go to church every Sunday. Hillary Clinton has decided to stay with him after that sordid episod. She obviously has forgiven him.. Why you guys out there refuse to understand that and move on, and leave the guy alone?   Some people might say it's free speech.. But why in front ...

About Something Good to Eat!

Eat grapes regularly and you may never get cancer (Article from Netscape news) A research team at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has determined that components in grapes, including some that have been newly identified, work together to dramatically inhibit an enzyme crucial to the proliferation of cancer cells. The study, which was done using advanced molecular tools with grape-cell cultures, helps to identify which flavonoids in grapes and red wine are most responsible for anti-cancer qualities. Flavonoids are a group of chemical compounds naturally found in certain fruits, vegetables, teas, wines, nuts, seeds, and roots; they have been shown to prevent or slow the development of some cancers. Flavonoids are more abundant in red grapes than in white grapes.    What is most exciting about this study is that the researchers not only found a dozen new constituents in grape-cell culture extracts, but also identified how some of them work synergistically against ...

My Reaction after the election of Pope Benedict XVI

Image
Below is what another blogger wrote after the election of Pope Benedict XVI. (Catholic Light) " Accept that this is our faith... The Church isn't here to be constantly changed by the world; rather, she is here to change the world ." As a Catholic I agree with that.  We need to be less egocentric, (less self-centered), less self-serving, less selfish so the world can become a  better place.  If the Church had to follow our ways, we would not need to go to church and follow the teachings of the Church.  It's like wanting to tell Jesus what to teach!!! The Pope was duly elected. Conservatives, liberals,  and others, like it or not, he is the leader of the Church.  If we do not want to accept the teachings of the Church, we need to leave it, and open our own church.    J-F
